I have a set of two good ones I bought to do my 750 twin. They wre not cheap, but since I'll never use them again, I might sell them cheaper than I paid.
Some people use hose clamps.

I just used my fingers and some help from a popsicle stick to work them into the jug
Mine:
04 Honda rebel 250(wifes)
04 GSXR 750(bolt on galore)
98 CBR 600F3(filter, pipe, adjustable cam sprokets, dyno tune)
76 KZ900A (LTD gauge pods, crash bars, LTD(style)pipes, dyna coils and ignition, headwork and mild port cleanup by cavanaugh racing, K&N filter pods, heck I dunno.

Re: ring compressors
10 Feb 2013 05:24I did. I used small vise grips to clamp on the studs to gradually let the cylinder down. After all rings were in, I unlatched the ring clamps and slipped them off and removed the metal bands. Then I put the sealer on the base gasket and lowered the cylinder into place.donthaveakawman wrote: yeah, try to get a piston ring compressor out of under the block.
The "hand squeeze" method might work if you have more than one person to wrestle everything into place.

It shouldn't be such a problem because the bore is larger at the bottom.

Sure do & cheap to... At the end of your arms...
Follow the link past your elbows-> wrists-> hands-> fingers....
These two sets of tools work like magic on rings and such every time with track record proven results...
They can be used for 2, 3 or 4 cylinder ring compressions. Best part they're FREE!
Now if you still feel the need to have a different tool... Ace, Home Depot, Lowes have thin rolled aluminum or steel material (soda can wall thickness) that could be used as well... Slide out from top of cylinder hole.

Here, for reference, is the piston ring compressor that's included among Kawasaki's "special tools."

if you wanna get hyper cheap pop can aluminum or really any thin metal and a hose clamp, i have a few good ones but i use them alot. most of the time a high dollar ring compressor is honestly overkill anyway.
