bore job questions?

Was looking into doing something along these lines, with a turbo a well, so do I need to just bore my stock head or do I need the small block head? Also im assuming id need to resleeve the bored head?

Would these pistons work for a turbo setup, our do I need something with lower compression?

I'm trying to decipher your terminology.

You can use your stock block and just have the sleeves bored out 3.5mm. No need for a big block.

You can run the higher compression with a turbo but you aren't going to be able to run much boost without detonation or pulling back timing a bunch.

If you are looking for lots of HP or to run a lot of boost, get lower compression pistons.

Tried to edit the OP so that it was slightly more intelligible!

I was under the impression that if you bored out the stock head you would infact need it resleeved.
So at what displacement do you need to swap heads?

Also, if I get lower comp pistons and do not run a turbo will I still have good HP increases?

Im very new to the entire concept of modding engines so I maybe need to do some reading

Your terminology is still a bit confusing. While I do understand that terminology varies in different parts of the country, most folks use the term "head" to refer to the upper part of the engine that contains the valves and camshafts; this is not something that gets bored. The part that has the cylinder sleeves in it is generally called the "block" or "cylinders". So one bores the inside diameter of the sleeves within the block (generally called boring the cylinders or block) rather than boring the head.

Your question about about re-sleeving after boring is confusing. If you are talking about boring the actual block so it can accommodate larger diameter sleeves you are talking about major surgery on the engine that normally is not necessary or desirable. If you are talking about simply boring the cylinders (sleeves), that is not an unusual thing, but you would not then re-sleeve or you would be tossing out the sleeves you just had bored. Yes the cylinders not the head..I'm quite embarrassed with both of those post.

Ok now that I'm speaking english with the rest of you....
isn't there a size at which you have bored our the stock cylinder sleeves to much?

On the stock kz1000 sleeves I personally think the 1105 is too far on a streetbike anyway,but Ive let that be known once or twice on here! :laugh:

Wireman in your opinion why do you feel like the 1105 is to much for street use?

And what do you mean by actually fit?
I have a kz1000j if that's what your referencing.

I didn't realize you had a j-series bike,my bad! :laugh:
On the kz series motors I personally don't feel theres enough meat left in stock kz1000 sleeves for extended stop and go use where motor will get heated up,great for a quick sprint down the track or running in a nice cool 75 degree environment though. :)
