interchangable valves was created by johkyls
Hey all, I have an australian Z500 that is missing the exhaust valves & springs, I cannot find any without spending what the bike is worth! will valves & springs from a KZ550 fit? I have seen used ones on ebay for less than $100(valves & springs) or am I up $#it creek. any info would be great.
Thanks John

If you have the head off, measure the valve size. Compare to the 550, probably the same as Wireman stated. Then it will be easy to get them, just some freight to OZ.

Hey wireman, I have an 81 with engine no. kz500ae015166. there is a listing for valves from an 81 550 on ebay also springs listed from the same bike, I am reluctant to purchace these as I have read that the 550 had larger valves but also read they only had diffrent valve timing, I cannot get a definate answer! problem is I dont have the old valves to measure. my manual only states a 'seating area' not actual size. I have found these part no's
12005-5001(early 78-81)
12005-1013(late 81-onwards) I am not 100% sure these are correct
Thanks for any advice :)
John

Well according to the fabricating genius zed 1015 the 500-550 motors are same other than stroke.
So if you can find a complete decent priced complete 550 head it may save you from having to have a valve job done atleast. B)

Hey Mr wireman, THANKYOU for your trouble, I finally have a road to travel!!!!!! :woohoo:
I will prob purchace valves & springs and have my head done as postage from the USA would be lots for a complete head that would need to be reconed anyway.
I am thinking around $500 for the job.
Again THANK YOU very much
