Putting ZX7 gauges on an '83 KZ750
27 Jan 2013 21:42
No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationI guess I'm the only one whose bike murders KZ750 L3 gauges (mechanical speedo, electrical everything else).
Something I've thought of doing for a while is getting a gauge cluster off some other Kawi. Mounting brackets are easy to make, and rewiring is easy enough, too. The only thing is that most other newer Kawi bikes seem to have a gauge cluster that rests in a much larger console, so in mounting them to my bike the insides would be exposed.
My example is here:
I think I could mount that to my bike and it would mostly work, but then the rains would hit and the whole thing would freak out.
Anyone made a plastic backing to any of these?

98 and up ZX9, 04-05 ZX10, 00-05 ZX12, will work, and that ZX10 gauge only weighs ounces, much lighter than the ZX12.
Get the part of the wiring harness that plugs into the dash, and use a Hall sensor on a brake disk bolt for the speedo. There's something called a Speedo Healer that plugs inline to the speedo and you set the correction.
If you want to use a mechanical speedo, then ZX11C (90-93) would work.
