GPZ Kawasaki on the side. was created by godsjester71
Anyone recognise this engine? I was pulled out of a 84 PZ550, but it is not the original engine. Little help?

It looks like an 83-85 GPz750 motor, does it have twoo holes on the front bottom of the motor for the oil cooler lines?
I have no idea what a GPz550 motor looks like, so maybe it's identical to a GPz750 motor?
What does it say on the base of the cylinder, or on the right side of the motor behind the cylider block?

It is .553l, it does have an oil cooler. The clutch connects externally on the right side compared to internally on the left side on my KZ550A1, and the heads look more square on this too compared to the A1.

It's been repainted, as the upper 3 side head fins should be bare aluminum. With the 553cc on the side, it's most definitely a GPz550. A1 is an 1984, as the only difference I remember is the clutch cable bracket that's different from the '84 and '85. Check out this site for GPz550 only bike info.

The tops of the valve covers will tell you that it's a california model, if there are hose fittings on the top of them. That would make it an A1L. Check out www.buykasawaki.com too for a comparrison.

Thanks guys! Yes it has been repainted, not exactly happy about that but it was free, as well as the carbs as far as I can see. Painted badly too.
