550 gearbox into 750

Hi everyone, i am thinking about fitting a 550 gearbox into a 750ltd (h2) engine to fit into my z650, does anyone know how difficult a task this is, i already have the gearbox sprocket offset a lttle bit as i have a 160 back tyre fitted, maybe the shaft on the 550 is not long enough?, any advice on this one would be good

Yes it will fit. You have to mix and match a few bearings but once you have everything opened up it's pretty apparent what's needed. There is also a 1mm spacer you'll need to make to take up the space between the case and one of the bearings. You can use either the 550 or 750 clutch basket. If you do a search it's been done before and there are several write-ups on it.
