HELP! Quick was created by mcmelend
Hey everyone.
i'm rebuilding my Kz just so i can start riding, not an official rebuild. . .
but i've put rear sets on the bike, but the kick stand is in the way of my shifting ability. Any suggestions? I want the cheapest and fastest solution please. I need about 4 inches of clearance for my toe to operate the shift lever.
Thanks!

Including information about bike year and model is helpful to viewers and usually elicits better responses.
It's easy to put the information in your signature where it shows in all posted messages, past and future.
And may be changed whenever and as often as desired.
If wanting a signature showing information about the bike in posted messages, it's easy to do. Here's how:

Thank you Patton for the image help. I needed to change that, and put a signature.
i don't have pics of the rear control on yet, but i'll note on this one picture that where the rear passenger pegs go is where my rearsets are. I thought putting a rear control on would solve the kickstand in the way problem, but it hasn't.
2 options i've thought of. 1, move the kickstand forward (but that'd be hard since i don't have the time to pull the motor) option 2, move the rearset position (cut the rear passanger bracket and reweld in new location.

Would flipping the shifter backwards make it easier for you?
Without seeing the rearsets its hard to tell what the problem is.

If the bike in the pic is the one in your sig, then your sig needs to say "1980 KZ750G".
Why in the world are you mounting the footpegs so far back? Your toes are going to end up pointing at the ground. They should be mounted on the backside of the rear down tube ideally.
No matter where you mount them you'll need shifter linkage, and that will take care of your clearance problem.
Word of warning, if you move your seating position rearward you'll shift weight to the rear and unload the front tire, which means it loses traction in a turn and washes out, thus a low side and your butt sliding along the pavement. Been there, done that, broke two ribs in the process.

1. all the documents, and down tube markings say that the bike is a 79 Kz750
2. I don't plan on moving the seating position backward, i plan to just add a seat with a hump on it. so essentially i will be in the same balance point.
3. I have a linkage kit, but that doesn't help clear the kick stand. I think i'm going to cut and remount the stand further forward. Seems to be my only option.
Anyone have pics of rearmounts on their bike also picturing the kickstand up?
THanks guys !

Take a look at ramtough's build, he had to move his kickstand forward to clear his shifter setup. It's a look build thread but worth the look!
I believe it's titled "thrown together till winter"
