I am wondering if there is anyone out there who has experience with fitting a kickstarter to the 440 LTD models. I am fairly certain that the clutch cover on my 440 is the same casting pattern and the same bolt pattern as earlier 400 models that have kick starters, the only difference is they did not bore out the kick starter hole on the 440.

Is fitting a kick starter as easy as using a cover from an older model and sliding the kick starter into place, or would the crank case need to be drilled out in any way on the inside to fit the shaft? If so, it's probably not worth it, but having the kick starter can be really nice with how cold blooded the bike can be on those cooler days.

Let me know if anyone has experience with this modification.

You have to split the cases, been there, done that, and the covers are different.
