Starting Issue

I have not ridden my bike for a week. I realized that I did not have it on a charger, but thought I would see if it would fire up.

The bike seemed to be turning over as usual but very weak.

I decided to get the charger and hook it up, but decided to try and start it one more time.

On the last try instead of the engine trying to crank over it made just a whiring sound and the engine does not turn over.

It almost sounds like the starter is just spinning and not connecting with the middle starting gear.

Before this issue I did not hear any strange noises and the engine sounded like it usually does when turning over... just weaker from the low battery charge.

I have not pulled anything apart yet because I wanted to see if someone had had this issue before.

...not a direct answer to your question but..you really have to leave a charger on your bike if it sits for a week? I'd be looking for a new battery if that were the case with mine...
