Not sure if the instructions specify it or not, but most megs need to be rubber mounted to keep the stress fractures to a minimum. Patton shows a great rubber isolator that he runs on his. I run the factory rubber exhaust mount on my KZ1000 and it works fine. I personally wouldn't run a meg bolted directly to the frame. But you know that now though... :P

Thinkin with the frame flex the custom rear mount will
keep from twistin the pipe.

When the meg.'s all the way on the end is a little higher
but thinking a small elbow to turn it up and in a little.

:P   I think he did, he got the rubber part right... :cheer:

To tell you the truth, these modern(read cheap azz corner cutting rip offs)pipe manufacturers can take a queue from some of the kings of pipe building from the 70s-80s.
To keep that from ever happening braze a sub plate on the pipe then braze the mounting tab to the plate. It won't crack, gauranteed.

Here is how the Bassani mount is atached to the meg/canister section

and that's it mounted in the factory rubber isolator.

I just got through repairing my canister section with a new section of 4" pipe. Huge can collects large quantities of moisture, creates huge rust problem. New aluminized pipe with weep hole fixes problem area :cheer:
