Head gasket leak question was created by KzRyan
Hey guys. My head gasket has begun to leak along with my base gasket, and im wondering if its still ok to ride? I ride the bike to school which is really only about two miles or so down the road. I am planning on replacing the gaskets as soon as I can but its going to be a few weeks yet, and I seriously love riding it soo much Id have to fight myself to not take it out. The leak is weeping from the front of the head and making the front of the block look like crap. The base gasket leaks on the front left side and the wind carries oil drips along the top of the transmission cover.

If its just leaking oil, and not compression, I'd say you will be fine. Make sure you keep an eye on the oil level, and beware that its gonna make a terrible mess of your bike. I would go so far as to recomend hitting her with a presure wash every couple nights till you get it fixed.

Have you tried re-torquing the head nuts? Couldn't hurt and that might cure it or at least slow it way down.
