Forum....with the auto advancer, was there ever a performance upgrade for advancer weights....or a trick that would improve upon stock ignition advance?

Seems like all other engine combos are able to be tricked out....my racing go carts advance was adjustable along with the snow mobile engine...hell on the old cars before elec ign....you could change springs to quicken the ign adv.

I would ass-u-me that stock is it for the KZ!

Thanks

The mechanical advance is for the street. Are you dragging yours? If so you can set it to total degrees for max power, and just put a weak spring in it so its easier to start.
If street use, keep the advance, but you can re-curve it. Quicker to total will depend on compression/ cylinder pressure and fuel octane. Total advance is something to set for peak power and not fuel economy still.

I run a dyna 2000 system system on my 74 Z1.
It gives me 16 curves and 16 rev limits.
I run the closest to stock settings.

BUT with the stock points........
A spare advancer .........
A drop of solder on the weights will get your advance in quicker......
File the slots a little longer will be more advance .........
You can do anything you want to your curve .

LOTS of experimentation .

Just dont hurt it messing around .

Old days guys used to just weld the ignition at full advance commonly. These were drag bikes. On the street I guess there is a reason for advance at certain RPM.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

A slightly lighter spring will also advance the curve faster.
