Knocked a tube off of my '80 KZ440 was created by time440
Hey all,

I managed to knock this adapter and piece of hose off of my bike while cleaning it last night... The rubber doesn't stand up well after 32 years. I just cannot figure out where it goes. I looked through both the Haynes manual and the Kawasaki service manual and neither appear to show this piece.

It's not from the fuel petcock, the carb drain lines, or the drain line from the airbox. It also is not a vent hose for the battery. I went so far and disconnecting the airbox so I could try to see between the two carbs, but to no avail... Any other riders out there who'd be willing to take a look on their bike to see where it goes?

Thanks for replying so quickly.

My first thought was a gas line too... it's hard to tell from the crappy photo resolution, but one end of the rubber is all cracked, so I'm assuming that it was attached to the T fitting. The other end is not cracked, which is the reason I'm guessing it's for venting.

As far as I can tell from looking at the manuals, the only place that uses ANY T fitting is the fuel line going into the carbs, and that is in place and not the same style as this piece anyway. Can you think of anywhere else that would be vented by a tube?

Unfortunately it's torn apart right now; I had to take out the battery box and other things to move the airbox so I could look at the carbs more closely. I should probably just put it back together and check that out.
