The vacuum for the petcock is supplied at the carb, so deleting the clean air system will not affect it; gas flow won't change. Ed

do you poke a hole in the middle of the hose? or just connect a hose and clamps and thats it??
also check out my pic. what do you do with these two holes? its the airbox obviously

That lower hole with the black tape is the breather for the engine case. It needs to be open. Since you have the airbox you should hook a tube from the breather into the airbox so gases from the breather will be sucked through the carbs. Many stock KZ's use a little "L" shaped tube like this that runs from the breather to the airbox. Ed

Doesn't cause more backfiring (unless leaking where the connecting hose attaches).nitrokrumpt wrote: right on ed. no i actually have the hose for the engine case, its in the pic. kinda blends in with the airbox. i had the engine case blocked off just for while i had the airbox out and working on these carbs...so just block the top one off. GOT it. and i re-read and know not to put a hole in the hose connecting the reed valves. does doing all this cause more backfiring then?

I have the pods on and 145 main / 50 pilots with stock exhaust and I'm still getting some backfiring. I hope connecting the reed valves helps.
