Engine noise was created by Jompa
My 83 GPz 1100 (zx 1100 a1) has a nocking sound coming from the lower part of the engine or
clutch housing.
The sound appears when engines idling with both cold and warm motor.
The noise dissappears when I put in first gear and engage the clutch halfway.
I think it may come from the crank, primary drive or the clutch. Is this a normal Kawanoise or
not ?
Engine and gear works nice, same with the clutch. Valves and timing gear/chain is in good condition.

Any good ideas of what makes the noise ?

Mine did the same thing before i put a new clutch in. Maybe your clutch needs adjusted.

could be a bad clutch basket, J-model are notorious for it. Luckily the basket comes out without splitting the cases. Check the backing springs, when bad they will make some serious noise.
