Transmission cover seals - KZ1000J
06 Aug 2012 09:38
Hope you all can help. I want to go to the local bearing and oil seal distributor and get oil seals for my 81 GPZ1100 motor. Without taking my old output shaft cover off and measuring everything,i was hoping somebody out there had the seal numbers or the dimensions(OD. and ID.)
Thanks

Take a look at the parts diagrams on Kawasaki.com. They will show a seal # that a bearing distributor may be able to match. Ed

I checked the Kawasaki part numbers . They dont show all the (what look like seal) numbers. So i ask the same question.Does anyone have the dimensions for all the seals on the tranny cover?(gasket not necessary). Or even better the actual seal numbers

May try the link in my signature for help with navigating kawasaki.com and locating the applicable part numbers of seals, etc.

I don't have the dimensions, but which seals in the diagram below are you trying to find?

92049D is a problem as you can see , the others show what may be good numbers for my local bearing and seal distributor.

So if I understand correctly, you need 3 seals for the tranny cover. These are shown in the diagram as part numbers 92049-004; 92049-1017; and 92049-1070. If this is correct you are in luck because all 3 are still available from Kawasaki. Part number 92049-1070 has been superseded by part number 92049-1567. The other 2 are available using the original part numbers. Ronayers.com lists the prices as:
92049-1567 = $7.73
92049-004 = $3.92
92049-1017 = $4.04
92049-1567 = $7.73
92049-004 = $3.92
92049-1017 = $4.04

just an add-on, I just changed these seals but everyone seems to forget a skinny O'ring the goes on the drive shaft between the bearing and the sprocket sleeve. This O'ring is usually the culprit when oil leaks.
