help needed!!!!

just bought a 74 kz9...1075 kit bike sat up for 9 months before i bought it, charged the old battery but just get a click sound from the starter relay....

Do you have a multimeter? If you do, check the battery voltage. You may have a bad or weak battery.

Could try jumping from the battery directly to the starter with a set of cables. If starter turns that way, it's a bad relay, fairly common in my automotive experience. Make sure it's not in gear, and all the other stuff you'd normally do before starting a bike.

If the starter still doesn't turn, probably the starter, unless the engine seized in that short time, which seems unlikely if you had it running fine before. But since you just bought it who knows?

That's the easy/free test to get started with at least.

A 1974 is a Z1 (as in $$$$). Have any pictures? Ed
