no power was created by battlecat

i'm having trouble getting my bike to rev past 4000 when it's on the road. it will rev up in neutral but has no balls on the when it's in gear. any ideas....?

'79 Kz650b3 RAT. Used to ride an immaculate cb750. it was boring.

Compression been checked? A new/rebuilt engine may have 180-200 PSI, put a few years on it, and now it's maybe 160 or so. An engine will run at 100 PSI, but produce low power. You should not have more than 10% difference between cylinders.

When you check the compression, do it with the engine cold, and the throttle wide open.

Ignition timing advancer might be stuck in idle position.
