Baffles or no baffles? was created by Calico
Baffles or no baffles? That is the question. But . . . it's baffling. See I always thought that removing baffles wasn't just a sound thing but that it (even in a small measurement) helped. But I just read in someone's discussion that removing baffles is bad for your low to mid. Any opinions?

Assuming your bike is otherwise stock or tuned for baffles, removing them is not going to add power.

Right. I know most people do it for sound but I was concerned about losing power due to a lack of back pressure. Thanx guys! Oh, one other thing. I just rebuilt the starter clutch and installed it. But as I'm installing the clutch I noticed that the the spring bolts require 90" lbs. How important is that? The only reason that I ask is that I'm doing this on a budget and my only "lbs torque wrench starts at 130.

Thats right between 7-8' lbs by my math,id say put some blue lock tite on them and snug them as tight as you can with a 3/8 drive ratchet while holding it. B)

I think I understand. Do you mean by hand with the socket only?

If you plan to do much of your own work on the bike you may as well plan on getting a more sensitive (smaller scale) torque wrench. Otherwise stripped fasteners and timesert repairs are in your future. I find that my 30-250" lb works very well for all the lighter torque settings. Ed

No with just the 3/8 drive ratchet and socket,no air tools or breaker bars required to reach that amount of torque. B)
