Starter Clutch Gear housing broken, any pointers t

Hi, got a 81 1000J , the problem i have is that the housing that the starter gear sits in is broken off at the bottom, where the pin goes in. I have tried steel putty but not holding. If i weld that pin on so it doesnt rotate, what will be the outcome of that. Or does anybody have any other soluton to fix this housing.Thanks.

If I get what your saying you can't weld it, steel pin, aluminum case. I repaired one that was cracked, pulled it together, welded the crack and machined the outside to take a steel sleeve to support it. You'll need the broken pc. or have something made to fit. Sorry, not an easy fix from what I've seen.

You can't weld.

Nope, needs to be aluminum.
