just a quick question was created by Renninger
I am typing this on my phone so sorry for any grammer problems.

I got a 2000 kz1000p as my first bike and she's in need of loven.
I was recommended to do a top end rebuild and me being me... i am going to do it my self. I have both the service manual and the police supplement. Now i was wondering what tools will i need? And any advice?

If as you say you plan to rebuild the top end yourself you will need a fully equipped machine shop. Replacing valves and guides, boring cylinders, decking heads if warped, etc. are not tasks that most backyard mechanics are equipped to do. Precisely measuring components to determine what needs to be done also requires special tools. Read the manuals carefully as suggested; then decide if you can do this yourself. Ed

I'd recomend setting aside about a grand for stuff that needs to be "farmed" out, such as valve job, head and jug surfacing, any bore work. I spent around that, and I'm pretty well equiped here!
Other than that:
- torque wrench in ft.lbs.(good 1)
- torque wrench in in.lbs.(good 1)
-impact driver with J.I.S. tips
-metric socket set
- various extensions/swivels
- I personally recomend a cordless impact driver (huge time saver).

Mine:
04 Honda rebel 250(wifes)
04 GSXR 750(bolt on galore)
98 CBR 600F3(filter, pipe, adjustable cam sprokets, dyno tune)
76 KZ900A (LTD gauge pods, crash bars, LTD(style)pipes, dyna coils and ignition, headwork and mild port cleanup by cavanaugh racing, K&N filter pods, heck I dunno.
