I've got oil spewing from my crank case breather tube. What could be causing such a dirty situation....?

Another possibility -- oil in crankcase has become contaminated by gasoline having entered the crankcase.
It's time for a sniff-test and physical examination of the crankcase oil.
Good Fortune!

Or just a worn out engine. A 35 year old engine with probably 35 yr old valve seals hardened to plastic, ect, blowby will push out oil. Best to keep oil level to the low mark on a worn engine to minimize oil blow.
