900/1000 jugs was created by Powerstroke_fan
I have been looking to buy another jug for my engine build. I have came across a 900cc jug. The question i have is, are the jugs the same minus the sleeve and bore size? I will be boring them out and resleeving them to a 1197 or 1260. I just dont want to buy a 900cc jug and it not work or be to thin. Or do i need or would be better off to use a 1000cc jug?

From what Ive read the 900 sleeve can only be bored to 1015 maybe 1045 The rest should be the same so I think it could be resleeved with the right size sleeves

My brothers 900 is bored to 1230 and that required epoxy between cylinders 2-3 to seal it back up. It actually cuts away that part of the block to get the sleeves to fit. If you want 1197-1260 best get a 1000 block to do it in since it has more meat on it.

I would be buying aftermarket sleeves just wondered about the jugs. I wanted to buy another jug because i wanted to keep the 1075 jug with the 1075 pistons. I got a stock 1000 jug with pistons but it has one chipped fin, If i am gonna put that much time into polishing it up and boring it and epoxying it and sleeving it i want a close to perfect jug with no broken fins. So i will try to find a 1000cc jug.

Theres no problem running 1197 with a stock 900 block and new sleeves, ive run many of them over the years and people were doing it long before me. B)

So are the 900cc blocks smaller or thinner than a 1000cc block or are they the same? I know the sleeve is smaller and the the bore for the sleeve is smaller and its stamped 905 instead of 1015, but other than that are they the same?

I think it has a lot of it has to do with which company was casting cylinders for kawasaki at the time.
Kind of like a small block chevy some can be punched .060 over really easy, others cant take hardly take a .030 overbore.
I have epoxied in the cooling passages in between 1/2 and 3/4 before on really hardcore street motors where you couldnt see it to try and add a little extra support to sleeves, but they run hotter doing this.

I'm not saying you can't use a 900 block and be fine. I'm saying there is more material in the 1000 block to work with.
