Swap clutch cable on 78 750 twin was created by Cdiver
Need to change my clutch cable. Just wondering if anyone has any pointers. Haven't dove into it yet, but I'm hoping it's pretty straight forward. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Cdiver, it is fairly simple.
Loosen adjuster in middle of cable
Remove cable at top
Remove cable at bottom (foot peg, shifter and sprocket cover come off). Tension springat bottom inside case is a must have, don't loose or leave out at reassembly.
Remove cable (take note of routing)there are two cable clips to frame.
Routing cable before reattaching either end, gives the most routing flexability.
Lube cable and grease clutch rod end before reassembly.
Inside sprocket cover (if you have not been inside yet)
If you get the urge to test the starter after rebuilding it, do yourself a favor and pull the plug wires so it won't start and throw oil from the flywheel all over the place.
I keep an old clutch cable under the seat, just in case. It can be changed on the side of the road with the tools in the tool kit.
Good luck,
Jim
