Is this the rotella T from walmart you guys use?

I have a question. I've been looking at the rotella T at wal mart that some people here use. I just want to make sure this is the same formulation you all use. I don't want to have to clean my clutch plates off because I got the wrong blend!

Yes, that is good 15w40. Other guys use the 5w40 synthetic, they also have 10w40, and 10w30 semi- synthetic, but walmart only carries the 10w30. All these work fine. I don't like 5w40 though because the 5w shears real quickly. 10w40 is recommended and I wish was easier to buy as that works all year around. 15w40 doesn't work in cold weather.

I don’t use that particular oil, but if you look at the end of the text in the rectangular block on the back of the container you will notice that it states it meets JASO-MA service requirements. Based on that I would say it should work just fine for your clutch because the JASO-MA standard is specifically written to address wet clutch requirements. Ed

I've been using Rotella T 15W40 for the last 3 years and have had zero problems with it. Prior to using Rotella I was using Castrol Actevo and my bike seems to shift better with the Rotella. The only oil that I've used that shifted smoother in my bike was Repsol Moto Sport 4T but that stuff was almost 4 times the price of the Rotella. You really can't go wrong with it. I even run it in my cars.

Ive used the synthetic rotella t6 in every bike that ive owned (all modern day sportbikes). Most recent bike is a 2006 gsxr 1000. Ive put on about 15k miles on in the last year, all very hard riding no commuting. Mountain runs, Dragstrip, very long wheelies and even trackdays. my last bike (gsxr 750) even had the drainbolt come out and was rode for about 15-20 seconds dry before the oil light came on and I shut it off. I got another drain bolt, filled with oil and put another 13k on it without any clutch or engine problems before i sold it. Also know a few other hard riding guys that have ran it for years with no clutch problems. I would love to run it in the kz but dont know what synthetic would do to a 35 year old bike that has more then likely had conventional its whole life. Ill prolly go with the 15w40, thx for asking so i didnt have to

Synthetic motorcycle oil works great in the KZ650. I've been using Mobil-1 Racing 4T 10W40 in mine for the past 6 years. Just make sure whatever oil you use says on the bottle that it meets the JASO-MA standard. That is the standard for lubricants for use with wet clutches. Also, you may want to consider using K&N oil filters; the KZ650 uses #KN-401. Dennis Kirk carries them. Ed
