I recently had carb cleaned by mechanic and now kawasaki 454 will not exceed 55 mph.

Could be several things. If the ignition advance is mechanical it can have become stuck, although not the most likely cause here. More likely, your mechanic made a mistake of some sort, like rupturing a carb diaphragm.

I will take a look at the carb diaphragm. Is there anything in particular I need to look for?

Any tears,or holes are signs of air/fuel delivery problems.

The EN 450 has to have the filter rubbers hooked up or it runs too lean. The advance is electronic on these bikes. Do check for air leaks and hook up carbs with stock air filters. Sounds like your too lean. Bob

Yes, the bike went well over 70. The mechanic cleaned the carbs and installed a new petcock I had ordered. Now will not go over 5000 rpm.
