cylinder head, valves, redo or not? was created by fireglass
Ok so I have a 1980 kz650 f1 I did a compression check, a dry and wet test the numbers where almost the same no.1 105 no. 2 125 no.3 120 no.4 150 I didn't hold the throttle open so the only thing it maybe told me is the rings are still good. Checked the valves exaust no. 1 .005 no.2 .005 no.3 .004 no.4 .006 intake no.5 .004 no.6 .004 no.7 too thick, could not get a gage in no.8 .004
checked the shims no. 1 097 no. 2 200 no. 3 250 no. 4 245 no.5 200 no. 6 200 no. 7 205 no.8 250
I don't think the bike has ever had the valaves lapped if I lap them how much well the shims change and witch way well they go up in numbers or down and how to check the valves to see if there bent or not? thanks..Lance

Do a Leak Down Test, that will show you where any compression is leaking. Dry then wet, just like the comp test.

105 on #1 is way below service spec. Need to hold throttle open to get real number.
