KZ 400 bad valve tapping

So a guy i know just bought a 1975 kawasaki kz 400 ohc with 4500 miles on it and it has a horrible valve tap on the right side, like they are way to loose, anyway the previous owner said he adjusted the valves it ran good then this started up about 10 minutes after. I pulled it apart, turns out the guy never tightened the nut all the way when he adjusted the exhaust valve on the right side. I slid my feeler gauge in and tightened it up where it should be, while i was at it i did the other 3 valves, now it runs smooth and quiet

Timely catch. I managed to once lose the adjusting screw and nut altogether. Had to pull the cam cover and go fish them out of the valve pocket. Made quite a carbon mess of that side very quickly. Fortunately nothing actually broke and there was no fatal damage and I had planned to pull the head to install new valve guide seals anyway. Still, it could have been very bad. Note to self: "Always check the adjusting screws twice."

Yeah tell me about it, he was riding this bike 60+ miles a day on the highway to and from work. Im just glad it was an easy fix and we caught it in time.

So i had an extra kerker race baffle laying around the shop, i cut it down some, and slipped it in the end of the mac megaphone, holy good god, it woke this old girl up, the sound is amazing, best sounding 400, i have heard thus far. It was 3am so i just fired it over real quick, but ill shoot a movie of it tomorrow.
