Anybody Know Anything About Smith's Speedos? was created by Killman
Just picked a NOS Smith's clock up on Ebay for $40, figured it was a good price so wth. I tried to do a little research online to find out the year and models it may have been used for, (tops out at 80mph) but I'm not having any luck.
Anyone able to point me in the right direction?

That's a British gauge; take a look at BSA, Triumph, etc. models. Ed

Thanks Ed. That much I got.
I was more looking to find some history and specs on the piece. Along the lines of how I look up parts numbers and models on my Kawasaki parts.
I just have no frame of reference on how to take the numbers on the Smiths speedo and find out what year it was manufactured and what makes and models it would have been used for.
One of the biggest sources of fun from getting into my project has been the learning. Seems like every time I bumble-step into another area I pick up all kinds of cool technical and historical type knowledge.

There should be a number stamped on it someplace. If you can find the number you may be able to map it to the bike it came on using one of these references (see links). If the number is not noted in the links you may want to post it on some of the British bike forums. Some of those folks have reference books that may show what the speedo originally came on. Ed

Is it grey or black face? Can you post a pic?
If you do an internet search there are several places that do restoration that could help ID it also.

Thanks Pig and Ed, ( now there's a phrase I wasn't expecting to use today) it's a black face and the numbers on the face are 51 115 313 02 1600
