So I have a kz1000 in pieces that needs cylinders bored and possibly a different crank/rods. My buddy has a complete kz1100 motor that I could get for a fraction of the cost of the pistons and engine work. Are the mounts the same? Both are shaft drive. I figured I'd ask before I tried to heave that heavy ass motor into that frame or lay it on it's side and set the frame on top of it.

Any Ideas?

Thanks,
Adam

Although I do not know with 100% certainty, I doubt very much that the mounts are the same. The old 1000 is rigidly mounted whereas the 1100 is rubber mounted. It is also shaft drive - is yours? I'm not sure if they interchange even if both are shaft driven, but that must be verified. Or if the KZ1100 is a GPz or R unit, it will be chain drive but still has a different engine block that is partially rubber mounted.

Starting in 1981 the mounting is totally different. It can be done but with allot of fabrication.

Thanks. Modification is no problem. Just wanted to know what I was getting into before trying to drop it in. I wonder if there are any mounts that line up? I'll post up what I find when I set the motor in there to mock it up. Yes, they are both shaft drive motors.
