what engines swap in my kz550?

i was just curious to know what engines can i swap in my 82 kz550 ltd. like 400 or 750 ect... can i just bolt them up or would i have to fab up some mounts? just encase i run into a great deal on on of those engines.

I cannot guarantee that there haven't been made any changes to the cases as they went to rubber mounting, but adapting new motor mounts should be simpler than trying to enlarge the frame to accept a larger engine.

The Z400/4, GPz400, ZR400, Z500/4, Z/KZ550, ZR550 and GPz550 are all based upon the same platform and should (with the possible exception of engine mounts) all fit your frame. Also, the original liquid cooled GPz600R Ninja were based upon the GPz550 cases.

would it be worth it to put a zr550 or GPz550 or gpz600r in my kz550?
