strange rattling ONLY when closing throttle was created by FKK
Hello,
My name is Felix from Holland. I have a 1982 KZ750R1.
It has always run well but now I have this strange rattling noise that only occurs when I close the throttle. In idle you hear nothing. Also when accelerating or cruising this noise does not occur.
I have no clue what that may be. Anyone?
thanks in Advance
Felix

Wild guess -- Muffler name plate is loose.

I would have a look at the Cam Chain Tensioner... Check them, but a muffler plate or guard would tend to rattle under load or on the side stand as well.

Would also check the drive chain for possible kinks, any (slack) adjustment needed, any lube needed.

When at idle in neutral, and revved, is the same rattle heard as the rpm drops back to idle?
In other words, can the rattle be duplicated with the engine running in neutral?
If so, this may make it easier to locate the source of the rattle.

No, the rattle is only under load.
I am quite convinced it is coming from out of the engine , not external parts such as muffler plates...

Sounds like the can chain tensioner is backing out then snapping shut. That is the reason people use the manual tensioners.
