Are you meaning a KZ650B 2, not a KZ650B E?
IIRC, the E in the engine/VIN number is on all of the KZ650 models up through '79.
All the KZ650 B models had spoked wheels, single disc front brake and drum rear brake.
The '77 had a 3-phase charging system, as well as having a seperate regulator and rectifier.
The '78~ had a 2-phase charging system, and a combined regulator/recitfier unit.
In '78 there were actually two diff B models - the KZ650B2, and the KZ652B2A.
I believe the most noticeable diff in the two was in how the front pegs were mounted - the B2 front peg brackets mounted to the frame with a single bolt, and the B2A front peg brackets were mounted via two rubber cushioned bolts (designed to help alleviate engine vibration transfering to the rider).
The front brake caliper mounted to the front of the forks on the '77, and mounted to the rear on the '78~ models.
There were some other differences between the years (front fender struts, diff crankcase assemblies, diff wiring harnesses, etc).
There's more that I can't recall right now, I've been up since 2 a.m. and my brain's fadin' fast!
