The coil "charges" while its primary winding is grounded through the signal wire.
Becoming ungrounded is the event that causes the coil to "fire" through its secondary loop.
Good Fortune!

Yep, fires two (2) sparkplugs at the same time, but one will be on the exhaust stroke. If you want a multi fire ignition, look at MSD:

the reason im asking this question is becouse im adding a electronic tach. The tach has to be set up for a single or double fire ignition. I need to know what a kz ignition is considered.
Thanks, Spencer

Set it to dual Spencer. What type of tach are you using. How is it connected? Direct connect or induction?

tach directions. If you hit control + it will enlarge the print. The wire cutting is a concern as I really dont understand it.

For more legible instructions,
4 CYL.—Clip BROWN and
ORANGE wire loops.
Insulate with
electrical tape.
Hopefully, there is only one orange wire loop and only one brown wire loop.
I interpret the instructions to mean that neither the orange wire loop nor the brown wire loop is used for application with a 4 cylinder engine.
And the orange wire loop should be disabled by cutting its loop (with each of two freshly snipped orange wire ends being taped off).

I just went to Radio Shack and purchased the items I needed to make the Tach Adapter. It cost all of $3 and have it done and on the bike. The scem I used is posted below. Does it matter what coil post I use or mount the tach feed line to? The two top ones are getting the 12 volt from my yellow/red harness wire, and I have the bottom two going to the Dyna S two wires. Just thought the 12volt might mess with the tach? use the 12volt side or the dyna s side.
So, is the Kz1000 a dual pulse ignition. One fires two cyclinders 1 and 4 and 180 deg later the other coil fires two cyclinders 2 and 3. That two firings in 360 degrees right. One full rotation of the engine is two firings.....right.
Thanks for all the help guys
