Total restoration, over a year in progress, getting down to the last few weeks. Here are some pics of the engine cases after being sandblasted, cleaned with thinner, than base coat/clear coat, than assembly. I'm getting the itch big time now.

Question for you as I am getting ready to tear into a spare engine. The pics show you spraying even the gasket surfaces, etc. How did you either keep the paint off when painting those areas and how did you keep from damaging them when sandblasing?

I sand blasted the cases in 3 seperate peices. By placing the gasket area down on the table and using glass beads it didn't hurt the gasket surfaces at all. The picture of my buddy Peter spraying the cases is actually him cleaning them with laquer thinner. Any oil soaked into the cases at this point is removed. We blew them off and let them dry for the night than I spent a couple hours taping every gasket surface. All the peices are painted individually.
