Years ago in old rattle-trap cars, used stop-leak in radiators.
But before being able to afford a commercial product, used common household black pepper in the radiator.

Good Fortune! :)

I used their newest radiator stop-leak in my Pontiac V6 minivan. The product cost me sixty bucks for one can -- but it worked great. I was losing coolant through the engine, plus I had engine oil in my radiator. Bad news. It had a leaky intake manifold and i replaced that. Helped, but didn't fix the problem.

I bought those cheap little drop-in tablets and they didn't do anything. then I bought the BarsLeaks $30 dollar can of coolant additive, and it helped quite a bit but I still lost some fluid, and as I refilled the constant loss with just 50/50 mix I guess the BarsLeaks wasn't concentrated enough anymore, and the fluid consumption started creeping up again.

I finally decided to do one more try before selling the damn piece of junk, and saw their $60 can of stuff with Kevlar fibers in it. I poured it in (after flushing the system first) with new radiator fluid, and within 30 minutes it started working (has to get hot first to start sealing).

That was 2 years ago. Van's still working fine. I haul the kids around all winter to their hockey games and all spring and summer to track and lacrosse, van full of kids and no worries. It saved me from scrapping my minivan and I haven't had any more cooling system trouble with it.

Its hit or miss with any of those products, they depend on leak size and pressure behind it. In a junk vehicle its fine to roll the dice but its just a clotting agent and it clogs radiators, blocks coolant passage wayd and heater cores. Imo id buy a manual and a head gasket or radiator before id use that stuff. Cause even if it works how long can you really reliegh on it. The extra cash or work is worth the peice of mind

Why screw around with a band-aid? Just replace the gasket. Ed
