Anybody know why my kickstarter keeps popin when the motor is turned over, this is by hand of course, kz 1000, 1979, I put the kick shaft on the stop, just like the book says and assembled it in nuetral, man this thing is driving me crazy!

Spring rotation to shaft notch reversed... ;)

It's easy to do backwards, don't ask... :blush: lol...

Correct rotation to notch in shaft...CCW

Dont have the tension spring on the shaft yet, do I need to split cases again? kinda confusing? its like its staying engaged and might make using it hazardous lol! :

Nope...

Rotate the shaft w/out spring by hand until it latches completely in default start position.
If I remember correctly CCW... You'll here it ratchet over the locking tabs between the shafts (internally).

Once in position, the spring holds it there otherwise it will do what your describing...

You're Ok, without the spring it will do that and you truly can't screw this portion up thus having to split the cases again... :pinch: :whistle:

I use the 3 Bond on cases...
Copper spray on gaskets... ;)
Cam cap end plugs, slight smear... Permatex Black gasket maker to help seal...

All good... ;)

Yup, 1104 is the way to go. A little dab'll do ya. It's been discontinued for a while now, but I still have a good bit left in my last tube.
I hear 1194 is discontinued now....damn EPA. What's gonna happen when they ban LATEX??? :laugh:
