Year and model KZ440?Jay98 wrote: Would it be beneficial to hone the cylinder without replacing the rings? And if not, where can I get a good inexpensive set of rings. What size are they. All I can find are .2 mm and .5mm.

Would also inquire at Z1 Enterprises for price and availability.
Could also check these links for any info as to possible parts sources for such as rings.

How many miles? It may not need either.Jay98 wrote: So you recommend ring replacement and not just honing.
If you do hone, replace the rings.
Ebay often has cheap sets.
It's too bad because cyclewareables.com had new piston/ring sets for both the 440 and 750 twins dirt cheap but they stopped carrying them recently, or at least they no longer list them. I got them for my KZ-750 twin rebuild a couple of years ago.

Be careful, that sounds like "over" specs. Rings and pistons come in standard, "0.25mm over", "0.50 mm over", etc up to 1.0mm over.
make sure the rings match the pistons you have.
FYI, these are 0.50mm over standard:

Check wear in cylinders, probably doesn't need honing but might not hurt. Depends if it was abused. I didn't have to bore my 750 until about 70k miles.Jay98 wrote: 24000+ miles on the odometer. I can see discoloration in the cylinder jugs above where the pistons sat for some time. Pistons were pretty carboned up so I have them removed and am cleaning them, replacing all seals, valve's need cleaned or replaced and valve seals.
EDIT: saw the stock Kawi rings at babbittsonline.com for about $50/set.

I ask because I just got a gasket kit to relplace both the head and base gasket due to leakage. I am thinking while I'm at it a new set of rings wouldn't be a bad idea.

A. They are talking about a two cylinder engine.
B. The ring part numbers are typically per cylinder for the four cylinder bikes, as far as I am aware.
