I ran into yet another KZ dragbike situation where the owner has purchased too much cam and wonders why his bike doesn't run like he planned...

Compression ratio [according to what I've been told is 13:1 pistons] The cams he purchased require 16:1 or higher. Says so right on Webcamshafts site.

The thinking I get relayed to me is that they all cost the same so buying the bigger cam is the smart choice...... NOT ALWAYS ....in fact, NOT USUALLY

I've seen as much as a full half second gain in ET from a simple cam swap...going down on lift and duration...mostly duration.

Just because it's a great deal on Ebay doesn't mean it's the smart play. A well designed motor is the sum of it's parts....a cheap race motor is a collection of Ebay junk someone else had the good sense to unload ;)

That doesn't mean you can't find good / correct parts on Ebay but you have to know what you're looking for to begin with.

true That wow super compression!!

I remember when I was younger my older brother built a couple drag cars on a shoestring budget because all the rich guys were always building the biggest and best motors buying the biggest everything so they would nearly give there old stuff away and he was always happy to take it off there hands for cheap. laughing the whole time and telling me why he was gonna outrun them because bigger is not better it's how well the combination works together.

the guys always thought he had some super secret because he was out running them with there old parts

When I was working for a wholesaler, we called them BOPpers. They'd pick their cams from Bottom Of Page.

Didn't matter how many times you tried to explain, these idiots would go straight back down to the bottom of the catalogue page.

I used to be playswithnitro but; it happens...

It's amazing isn't it? The cam is such a crucial choice. It's the gate keeper of air flow and cylinder pressure
