1105 PISTON KIT was created by z1rkrazy
Recently bought an 1105 Wiseco piston kit to put in my Z1R. According to American Performance it should be a "bore only" kit for the 1000's. The guy I want to take it to to have the boring done says it requires sleeves and a lower case cut. The guy has been drag racing KZ's for 30 years. Has anyone done this without sleeves....??? Hope fully Jay from APE can clarify this for me. Not racing the bike just trying to make a hot stret machine. Is this kit to big...??? Should I stick to a 1075 kit...??? Anybody with any experience in this please let me know. Thanks for your help. Ride safe....B) B)

I've got the same size pistons in my Z1R, it is a bore only. Stock sleeves get really thin, so not much room to chamfer the bottom of the sleeve, (makes it tough getting the rings in) It does run hotter than stock, be sure and use a good oil cooler, my kids took it into town one night and cooked the rings by riding around to long without cooldown time.:pinch:

I've got the 1105 kit as well...and yes...it does run hotter,but so far...no problems.And it WAS a bore only.
I haven't got a LOT of miles on the engine(got it done in June/2005),but it runs strong.Oil cooler installed as well. You going to drop in some cams too?

Wiseco markets that kit as a bore in, and it will go, however it will make the sleeves, what we consider, too thin. We try to talk customers out of it. Our reasoning is, that a 1075 with round bores will make more power than an 1105 with out of round holes.

The correct way to do the 1105 is to put big sleeves in it, and bore the upper case. The cost involved is the same as for a 1200, so that is why the 1105 / 1135s were not too popular.
