Just got my mtc pistons an jugs yesterday. i went to order my gasket kit an they asked what thickness do i want for the base gskt? Is there any suggestion i would start with? motor has never been rebuilt an head was never shaved. any help would b great. bc i have to order no matter what, don't have any.thanks again

76 KZ, frame gusset work,1200CC.Ported by Larry Cavanaugh, 1.5mm.over intakes, Carron Pipe, ZRX12 rear end, and seat,96zx9 front end.

just use the standard fiber Cometic gasket. its about .020" .
u would use a thicker 1 if u had the jugs or cases decked.
thicker gaskets r made of aluminum, or copper, and r more prone to leaks in a street motor. if they dont have the fiber cometic, get it somewhere else. thinner 1's r used to set the piston at the right height in the bore. its safe to run the piston about .010" down below the deck. if u run a .043" head gasket.u can go less but u need to know what u r doing.
the further down it is , the less compression u end up with, so high is better . but if its too high, u hit the head, then u get a head ach. :pinch:
