Thought I would provide an update to this thread. After tightening the chain and doing a carb sync, I haven't been able to replicate this anymore. It has been warmer out, so maybe the warm weather has my bike running better and that was the problem. Or maybe the carbs were causing the problem. I don't think it could have been the chain jumping, but I am ordering a 530 chain and sprockets once I decide on the gearing. SO honestly I don't know what the deal wass, but synching the carbs seemed to give me some more low end power. I actually broke the tire loose on the highway taking off, which I don't think I have ever done on this bike!

Is there any info around here on removing and replacing the 2nd gear dogs? I think I may be having the same jumping issue in 2nd under acceleration and wanted to get some education on what it involves.
It might be time to buy a repair manual.

To replace the second gear you will have to completely tear the engine apart. It would probally be easier to just buy another whole tranny that is already backcut or get a good one and have it backcut. But i would make sure you have tried everything else first to eliminate all the easier possibiltys.
