Oil leaking from throttle cable? was created by ldizzle
hey what's up KZ. What a wealth of knowledge these boards have been.
I have been working pretty continuously on an 1982 750ltd rebuild.

After changing some orings, gaskets, and some minor tuneups- I'm stumped by a strange oil leak!

It is coming, from what appears to be the throttle cable insert. The leak is then dripping down the block onto the headers down to the ground.

Again, I am perplexed...Is there an o-ring back there?

Thanks for any help!

That, my friend, is a tachometer cable. Yes, there is an o-ring and they do deteriorate and leak. fortunately, they are cheap and easy to replace.

Just got it all fixed up! after 20 mins of riding... I think I'm just seeing residual dripping.
THe oil seal was completely gone. No good. And the 0-ring was flat as well.

My 750LTD only had the ring for one(1) O-ring though!
