Will KZ1000 sleeves fit a KZ900 block? was created by Kapahulu
I have a KZ900 with a stock bore.

Also have a KZ1000 block with 1045 overbore, pistons etc. I wonder if I can have the 1045cc sleeves put into the KZ900 block, avoiding the case grinding etc. that people talk about when putting KZ1000 blocks on a KZ900 lower end?

Also it seems like the limit for KZ900's with stock block is 1015cc and I'm wondering about that too (using 1045cc).

Thanks, Mike

The block can be enlarged for the sleeves, but the sleeves are what you are clearancing for, if I understand it correctly. So the 900 cases would still need to be clearanced.

I have also seen it stated that 1015cc is the largest servicable size for the 900 liners.

OK so without taking the bottom end apart, probably the safest thing to do is bore out the 900 liners no more than 1015cc.

I don't think I'll chance it with grinding cases for bigger liners without taking the bottom end apart.

Thanks, Mike

Yes, go over on the 900 block if the 1000 block won't sit down in your case. Like DoubleDub says, it's the sleeves on the 1000 block that you are cutting clearance in your case for.
I've heard that 1000 blocks will fit some 900 cases without the clearance work. Seems some were opened up a bit further than others from the factory.
The guys that know will be along shortly.
