I was looking on eBay at cables and they have a push cable and a pull cable. They also have pull/push cables. So my question is, are the push and pull cables the same cables or not. I meed them both but want to make sure I order the right ones. Thanks.

According to Kawasaki.com they are different. What makes them different is unknown to me.

As long as the return spring on your carb bank (throttle) is in good condition you can use just the one cable. The two cables push and pull the throttle mechanism and the push cable is assisted by the spring.Saves you having to buy two cables.

The difference is in the elbow up by the throttle on your bars. The elbows have to be different lengths to enable each to be threaded in a decent ways. If both cables were the same, one would have to be threaded in all the way, then when trying to thread in the second one it could only be barely threaded because the first one would be in the way. Do you think it OK to have one threaded in 15 turns and one 2 turns? Then Motion Pro using 2 of the same cable works. If not, the cables are different, but as mentioned use the pull cable is all you need.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

That is the most succinct explanation I've heard yet. Every time I've installed the push and pull cables on my bike I've always appreciated that but never took particular note of it.

The reason I was asking is for this throttle from motion pro. My old throttle is all rusted from previous owner and he cut all the wires out. So I might as well keep it simple. So with this throttle I can use 2 of the same cables?

I remember reading in some thread here year ago; some member was out for a ride, and broke the main throttle (pull) cable. While a agree that you really only need one (and at present I have a single cable!) it resonated with me somewhat that he was able to get going again by swapping out the push cable to the opposite position.

I am ordering two new cables with my next Z1 order. I guess its really not required, but it's a very inexpensive insurance policy.

Cheers.

Z1 sent me two of the same for my 1000 and they work fine.
When screwing them into the handle bar I needed to do them at the same time,
kind of like a dance  , if you spin them both they miss each other because of the curve.
You'll see.
