bike wont stay running was created by binnzo
i have a 81 kz 750 h the motor turns over when i press the start botton. when turning over it has spark and fuel and sounds fine. when i let off the start button it dies like its an electrical problem. im wondering if its the balast resistor?

any advise ?

Could be a loose connection inside the handlebar switch that is only making a connection while pushing the button. Power to the coils runs through there. I would inspect that as it will only take a few minutes to check.

Could you give some history on the bike and tell us if it has been sitting,if you have had the carbs apart or just bought.

kz 750 h 1981.

stage 3 jet kit, clean carbs new carb gaskets. has sat for 8 months sinice it had last been started while it was over hauled. 4 into 1 open header with 4 pod intake. stock controls

check you have a good earth(ground) from battery to engine

Easiest way is to run a jumper cable to a clean metal part of the engine.
