mysterious rubber! was created by lemo32
yesterday I was removing the block from the bottom end and a mysterious rubbber dampner fell out, the bike is a 79 ltd kz 1000, the dampner looks like and egg with a small pin attached to it, its not on any of the microfiche for the bike, I have identified all of the various rollers and cam chain guides etc, its smaller than any of the normal stuff, need help!

I think after looking this morning it fits right in front of the cam chain tunnel on the case, good thing I didnt paint over the small indentation it made,, if your loooking at the very front of the block on the top half of the case in the cam chain tunnel area there is a small indentation where it looks like it fits, some kinda guide I guess, like I said though I still havent seen it on micrfiche, and its not as big as any of the rollers or other guides.

Fits below the piston block, it sits underneath the piston block, right in the cam chain area, on top engine cases, between pistons and block, only one, and its at the very front of the motor if you were standing in front looking at it, may have to post a pic, still looking to see if i can find it but havent yet, damn atleast it isnt tore up lol!

my cam chain guide, the one that fits inside the piston block, was broken came out in pieces, do these have a piece of rubber on the end or are they just metal with a curve on the end?

Should be some plastic or rubber like material that wears as it rubs, I believe. Sounds likely. I'll find the parts diagram.

Edit: Like #10?

Here's kawasaki.com diagram.

Lots of good info on kawasaki.com, including parts diagrams, part names, part numbers, models sharing same part, availability, etc. Here's a link for help with navigating the site and finding information.
