Block off reed valves ?
02 Apr 2012 21:53 - 02 Apr 2012 22:59
~regarding KZ 550c LTD~
I wanted to know if I can just remove the two rubber hoses that go to the reed valves and the other two smaller hoses that connect together with a T that go down to the carbs. Can I just cap everything off afterwards? I will be getting rid of the stock air box and replacing with Emigo pod filters and changing the jets on my carbs.

Sorry I have a correction to make, the two smaller hoses go to the engine side of the intake they are attached to brass nipples. So can all the emmision hoses be removed and capped?

... and leave the reed cages in there because they have the seals on them.

How about the holoe at the top of the crankcase? I removed the air box , I was thinking I just put a rubber hose with a little filter on the end of it. What do I do there?

Another option is to route a hose from the crankcase breather whereby it exits underneath the bike.
May use an L shaped rubber elbow that fits snugly onto the vent nipple, with the hose inserted into the elbow and routed to exit underneath the bike.
Good Fortune!
