No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationCheers folks! I haven't been around for a while, but I finally got the funds together to fix my bike and would like some advice from you experts. The engine has a leaking exh valve, so need a valve job. I found a rebuild head on ebay which is about $400 after I return the core plus 25 shipping each way so $450 total for the full head.

Does anybody think there is a better/ less expensive way to do the valve job? I don't know of any shops local to me that can do it and the cost may be comparable or more anyway.

I have a 4-1 Kerker pipe and stock airbox and carbs. My plan is to add a Dynojet stage 3 kit and K&N RC-0984 pods. I believe the engine was running a bit lean on the top which is why I was going to add the Dynojet kit. Should I stick with the stock airbox and just use a K&N filter inside? Also with that setup (stock airbox w/K&N) should I use the DJ Stage 3 setup or can I get the DJ kit for the KZ1000J and use the Stage 1 setup?

Oh yeah and do you see any issues with not doing the lower end? Can't afford to anyway! It checked good with the compression and leak down tests. 30K miles.

Thanks for your help!

I used PIT STOP in Florida to do mine. It was cheaper to send to them including shipping than having it done local (Northern California). Labor is very expensive in some areas of the country.

They did a great job. Quality is top notch. I'm sure there are others but that is who I used.

Try Larry. He does great work for a great price.

i would stick with the stock air box and try a larger main jet. try changing the stock jetting before spending money on a kit.
