Have many of you folks swapped gauge clusters out of these KZs? I keep killing the stock KZ750 L3 gauge clusters - the speedos are apparently very weak, and they're extremely rare.

I found a cluster set from a ZX11, but the guy said there's no plastic back to the cluster, because it just sockets into the dash. I hate this fact, but maybe someone has some insight?

I would also gladly take advice on where to find mechanical speedos and electrical tachs.

Also, does anyone happen to know what the speedo drive ratio is on the '83 KZ750 L3?

I'll post pictures of my total bike overhaul when I'm done in a few months. So excited for the big ride.

if u can get the zx11 cheap, its worth an experiment.
i put a zx9 front end on my kz. it has a speedo drive on the front axle, similar to the kz as well. i just had to swap the ends on the speedo cable, so it works with my kz speedo. if the speed mph,is off a bit , u can take the needle off the speedos post and re-position it so it reads right, at say 60mph.

It's $75 for the ZX11 cluster, but also a couple hours of my life driving. I'm pretty sure the inputs would work, but I can't ride with the wires being exposed in the back, and I'm definitely not cool enough to form some plastic to fit!
